It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of Alvis Wales. Alvis was not just a colleague and friend, but a remarkable individual whose kindness, dedication, and spirit touched the lives of many.
His contributions to our community and the impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten. Whether through his warm smile, unwavering support, or tireless work, Alvis brought light and positivity wherever he went.
During this difficult time, our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We will miss him dearly, but we find comfort in the memories and legacy he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Alvis. You will always be remembered.

So sad to hear this news. Alvis was a real southern gentleman. I have fond memories of seeing him at conferences and meetings at IMAX theatres over the years. I remember early in my career at Imax, I was in my late 20’s in Paris and he insisted I (a lady) should not be on my own in such a big city (ha ha) and suggested we take one day to tour Paris together…we visited some of his favourite spots ending with a delicious French dinner at some fancy restaurant. Always the gentleman…. Heather Farnworth

One of the kindest men in the industry. Dean Fick
The consummate quiet professional and gentleman. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. Derek Threinen
Always the southern gentleman, Alvis was so kind, generous, knowledgeable, reliable, and meticulous, with a warm smile and sly sense of humor. The sound checks at the site visits were a tutorial on what to listen for in a GS theater. I had no idea there was such a thing as pink noise until working with Alvis. He made us all hear things differently. So many conferences, cities, and memories together. His contributions to the industry and to GSCA are immeasurable, and he will be greatly missed. Sincere condolences to his family and many friends and colleagues. Kelly Germain
