June 9, 2015—IMAX Corporation today announced the appointment of Jason Brenek as president of its newly-formed Home Entertainment division, which is responsible for a series of IMAX global initiatives and products designed collectively to translate elements of The IMAX Experience® to the home environment setting. Brenek has also been named Executive Vice President of IMAX Corp. He will report to Robert D. Lister, IMAX's Chief Business Development Officer.

In his new role, Brenek will lead the development and growth of the IMAX Home Entertainment platform that features the introduction of a premium, IMAX-quality content service delivered to a secure home environment, as well as the Company's home theater technologies. These technologies include the ultra-high-end IMAX™ Private Theatre and the home theatre system, which has been developed through IMAX's joint venture with TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited in China.

“The Company has been carefully building an at-home strategy over the past several years and we are optimistic that leveraging key elements of our technology, partnerships and brand into the home represents an important complementary step in the evolution of IMAX,” said Lister. “Jason has a tremendous background in the in-home entertainment market, particularly on the international front, and we look forward to his bringing his experience to help us execute on the multiple initiatives that comprise our strategic approach to Home Entertainment.”

“Consumers and filmmakers worldwide rely on IMAX to deliver the absolute highest-quality moviegoing experience exactly as the filmmaker intended, show after show. We're seeing more consumers installing bigger and more advanced home entertainment systems, indicating a strong desire for content delivered at an IMAX level of quality in the comfort of their own homes,” said Brenek. “I am extremely proud to join IMAX at this important moment in the Company's history and excited to raise the bar of the home entertainment experience.”

Brenek comes to IMAX from The Walt Disney Studios, which he joined in 2003. His decade in senior management at Disney was largely split between Home Media Distribution and Theatrical Distribution, which gave him a unique, holistic perspective across all distribution channels and windows. While in the In-Home division, he concurrently held two primary roles: Senior Vice President, International In-Home, a position to which he was appointed in 2010, and Head of Global Business Development and Strategic Partnerships, a role he assumed in 2014. In his role as Senior Vice President of International In-Home, Brenek led Disney's international teams in the distribution and commercialization of Disney, Pixar and Marvel movies across multiple platforms such as digital, television and retail channels. His teams led the industry in the launch of innovative and lucrative partnerships and products worldwide. As Head of Global Business Development and Strategic Partnerships, Brenek was responsible for sourcing new revenue opportunities, business models, investments and strategic partnerships as well as the digital product strategy for the studio's multi-billion dollar global In-Home distribution segment.

Prior to these home entertainment roles, Brenek served in the Global Theatrical Distribution division as Disney's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Digital Cinema and Cinema Programming, leading the exhibition industry's conversion to digital cinema and the launch of digital 3D films. He also worked at 20th Century Fox and as a consultant at the strategy consulting firm Bain & Company before joining Disney.
