October 27, 2104—Jerusalem 3D is dedicated to iconic producer Jake Eberts, whose legacy was honoured on Tuesday with a screening and a reception in his memory at the Montreal Science Centre. On hand for the event was Jerusalem 3D writer-director, Montreal native Daniel Ferguson, whose involvement in the project was due in large part to his mentor, Eberts. October 23, 2014—IMAX Corporation today reported third quarter 2014 revenues of $60.7 million, adjusted EBITDA as calculated in accordance with the Company's credit facility of $17.6 million, adjusted net income, after non-controlling interest, of $7.8 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, and reported net income, after non-controlling interest, of $4.9 million, or $0.07 per diluted share.

October 17, 2014—The Science Museum of Virginia welcomes international leaders of the giant screen industry for an exclusive summit in the recently upgraded Dome theater. On October 22, over 50 members of the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) will gather in The Dome to analyze the Museum’s world-class digital projection system. Filmmakers, producers and distributors will review the newly installed Evans & Sutherland system, which boasts five Christie 4K projectors with auto-alignment and auto-blending technology.

October 15, 2014—IMAX Corporation plans to use the next Hobbit installment in December to introduce a laser projection system based on technology licensed from Eastman Kodak Co. in 2011. The projectors will be used with the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, on Dec. 17, according to Chief Executive Officer Rich Gelfond. The Warner Bros. film, directed by Peter Jackson, will be shown in one or two theaters with the new system, as well as the entire IMAX circuit. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. shares rights to the film. October 9, 2014—Coming soon, the theatre near you might well have its screen illuminated by lasers. This new technology is set to revolutionize the way we experience 3D films on the big screen, solving many of the problems that some believe are holding back audiences from fully embracing them. Kitchener’s Christie Digital, along with Mississauga-based IMAX and the Belgian company Barco are the leaders in pushing for a laser-lit future at the movies. Christie’s first laser projectors are rolling out in South Korea, China and the U.S. beginning this fall, and are expected in new or refurbished Canadian cinemas next year. October 8, 2014—A giant 60-foot by 80-foot screen was installed at the AutoNation IMAX Theater at the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale on Monday morning. It's considered to be the biggest screen in South Florida. The big screen will span from the ceiling to the floor and wall to wall. Watch the news coverage from WPLG in Miami here.

October 2, 2014—On Wednesday, Paramount and Warner Bros. said theaters still equipped to project 35mm and 70mm film will get Nolan's Interstellar two days early, on Nov. 5, including 41 IMAX locations. Nolan, who has a strong relationship with exhibitors, is a fierce advocate of film, and he's got enough clout with studios to make his passion a reality, but theater owners say the Interstellar experiment sends a confusing message.
