May 16, 2016—IMAX and Promocion Cultural Mexiquense announce the re-opening of the IMAX® theatre in Toluca, Mexico. The theater will launch with a new name—the Cinépolis IMAX Toluca Centro—and will be located near Museo Victoria. Promocion Cultural Mexiquense will open the IMAX theater and Museo Victoria this summer as important parts of a new large cultural and entertainment center in Toluca. The IMAX theatre will exhibit IMAX documentary films and, in cooperation with Mexico’s largest cinema chain, Cinépolis, Hollywood releases using a new IMAX digital system.

May 12, 2016—On May 15, 2016, the New Mexico Museum of Space History's Clyde W. Tombaugh IMAX Dome Theater and Planetarium will temporarily close for the installation of the world’s first Spitz Scidome 4k Laser fulldome planetarium projection system. It will replace the existing IMAX projector and the “starball." The grand re-opening of the theater is scheduled for July 1, 2016, with a new name—the New Horizons Dome Theater and Planetarium, after the NASA spacecraft that recently flew by Pluto.
