May 25, 2022—Two years after the Pyramid Place entertainment centre was demolished on an adjacent lot, the Niagara Falls IMAX Theatre was torn down by cranes last week, leaving only a pile of rubble after the long weekend. The two buildings in the entertainment district of the city were being cleared out to make way for a 12-story, 230-room hotel to be spread over the two sites. While the theatre’s website says a new location is to be announced soon, the now-demolished theatre was a mainstay in Niagara Falls for over 35 years, being built in the 1980s. May 23, 2022—MacGillivray Freeman Films today announced that actress Joelle Carter will narrate the company’s latest giant screen film release, Secrets of the Sea, a co-production from Howard Hall Productions and Oceanic Research Group, slated for release to IMAX® and giant-screen theaters starting June 8 on World Oceans Day.
May 19, 2022—IMAX Corporation (NYSE:IMAX) and Dolphin Entertainment (NASDAQ:DLPN) have entered into a multi-year agreement to jointly finance the development and production of a slate of feature-length documentaries for the global market. The first project greenlit by the partners is The Blue Angels, developed and co-produced by Bad Robot Productions and Zipper Bros Films. The Blue Angels is in production and is expected to hit IMAX theaters in 2023.

May 18, 2022—On Thursday, June 9, the
Michigan Science Center (MiSci) will reopen its IMAX™ Dome Theatre with a ribbon-cutting event at 9 a.m., followed by a showing of
Asteroid Hunters
and featuring 239 brand-new, custom-designed seats featuring their
FreeForm™ Trim technology generously designed and donated by
Magna.
May 16, 2022—The Royal BC Museum in Victoria, British Columbia, will close its doors on September 6, 2022, as the province makes a historic $789 million investment to build a safer, more inclusive, and accessible modern facility. The modernized provincial museum is expected to open in 2030 and will reflect the experiences and perspectives of all who contributed to B.C.’s history. BC Archives services will not be disrupted and will remain open at the downtown site until it moves to its new permanent home at the collections and research building in 2025. IMAX Victoria, the museum’s gift shop, and the food trucks located at the museum will stay open through early 2023.

May 15, 2022—K2 Studios has announced that industry veteran Ed
Capelle will retire this year after 35 years in the giant screen
industry, the last 20 of which were as VP of Distribution for K2.
May 12, 2022—Congratulations to GSCA member Masters Digital for their work on the museum exhibit BOOM!,
winner of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Thea Award for
Outstanding Achievement—Museum Experience, Limited Budget. Masters
Digital was responsible for the audio design and installation. The TEA 28th Annual Thea Awards were held April 23, 2022, during the TEA Summit at Disneyland in California.

May 12, 2022—Summer Game Fest 2022 has secured a distribution deal with IMAX to stream the event live from Los Angeles in select IMAX theaters on June 9. "We are thrilled to be a part of these rapidly growing events," said Megan Colligan, president of IIMAX Entertainment and EVP of IMAX Corp. "The two video game events are a part of IMAX's continued efforts to diversify its content portfolio with more live and interactive events and we are looking forward to being a part of them for years to come."
