Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce that Toni Myers and Jonathan Barker
have been named recipients of the GSCA 2018 Outstanding Achievement Award. A visionary and pioneering
filmmaker, Toni Myers has graced the giant screen cinema industry since its
beginning as editor, writer, producer, director, and even sometimes narrator.
Jonathan Barker was a world leader in 3D film production and
distribution, specializing in IMAX®/giant screen films that combine human drama
and natural history discoveries. Both awards will be
presented during the GSCA Achievement Awards on Friday, September 21, at the
Westin Chattanooga as part of the annual GSCA International Conference and
Cuba to have industry premiere at the GSCA Conference, with worldwide launch in January 2019
27, 2018—Giant Screen Films, Golden Gate 3D and BBC Earth are pleased to
announce that principal photography for Cuba: Heart of the Caribbean,
one of the most highly anticipated upcoming giant screen releases, was
completed in June, including stunning aerial photography of the island. With
unprecedented access from the Cuban government, Cuba combines state-of-the-art photographic
technology and artistic storytelling to immerse audiences in the rhythms and
exuberance of this vibrant nation. The film will launch worldwide on
January 18, 2019, and is available for pre-lease through Giant Screen Films. The industry premiere screening of Cuba will take place at the 2018 GSCA
Conference in Chattanooga on Sunday, September 23.
August 13, 2018—GSCA is sad to share the news that Leroy London, Chief of Education for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and a veteran of the giant screen industry, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2018, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Merlene B. London; stepchildren, Cecily Caldwell, Ernest David Caldwell, Jr.; and his children, David, Maurey, and Jeffery London.
