September 22, 2015—GSCA is pleased to announce the release of DIGSS 1.2, the second formal revision of the DIGSS 1.0 document that was the result of the Digital Immersive Screen Colloquium for Unified Standards and Specifications (DISCUSS). In DIGSS version 1.2, the GSCA technical committee made relatively modest changes to the values of several specifications in Section 1 to reflect the latest advances in technology (e.g., laser‐illuminated projection and object‐based sound systems) and to accommodate other known practical technologies that may become economically viable in the next few years.

September 21, 2015—IMAX and White River State Park have announced that the IMAX® theatre at the Indiana State Museum will install IMAX’s cutting-edge digital projection system to replace its current IMAX film system. The technology will allow the iconic state museum to present a wide array of IMAX digital content previously unavailable.

September 10, 2015—The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce the winners of its 2015 Achievement Awards, which recognize excellence in giant screen filmmaking, marketing, and lifelong learning. The awards were announced the evening of September 9 at the opening reception of the GSCA 2015 International Conference and Trade Show in San Francisco. IMAX Corporation, sponsor of the opening reception, presented the IMAX Maximum Image Awards during the ceremony as well.

Giant Screen Films is excited to announce that its newest film project,
Ocean Giants: A Prehistory of Whales, is moving forward and set to commence with pre-production in the coming months. The immersive large-format film is a globe-spanning, time-traveling adventure, from ancient oceans to modern deserts, exploring the genesis of whales – an evolutionary odyssey that traces modest four-legged land mammals into tail-powered marine leviathans.
Ocean Giants is slated for release in Spring 2017.
