September 29, 2016—D3D Cinema is pleased to announce a state-of-the-art digital upgrade to Arizona Science Center’s five-story giant screen theater. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the newly updated theater has been rebranded as the Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater. D3D completed the upgrade in mid-September, replacing the 15/70 3D projection system with a state-of-the-art dual 4K digital 3D projection system, including premium 5.1 surround sound audio.

“This amazing new digital theater will allow the Science Center to deliver on our mission to inspire, educate and engage curious minds through science like never before – through the most stunning and lifelike cinematic experience ever,” said Chevy Humphrey, Arizona Science Center’s President and CEO.

“We’re honored to have been selected by Arizona Science Center for this important project,” said Derek Threinen, Vice President of Distribution and Business Development for D3D. “In addition to the bright, vivid colors, an ultra-sharp digital 4K image, and the powerful and nuanced immersive sound system, this upgrade provides amazing new capabilities for the science center to program everything from the latest 3D documentaries and feature films to live events, multimedia presentations, and more. This system makes it possible for our partners at ASC to deliver the best giant-screen moviegoing experience in the Valley.”

Don Kempf, President of D3D, added “We’re thrilled to launch this state-of-the-art digital 3D theater at the Arizona Science Center, and to add Phoenix to D3D’s fast-growing list of markets. This opening marks the presence of a D3D cinema in each of the top five cities in the United States!”
