March 4, 2022—The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce that the Association’s 2022 International Conference will be hosted by the Tennessee Aquarium and IMAX 3D Theater in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on September 28–30, with the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chattanooga Downtown serving as the official conference hotel. On October 1, the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama, will host GSCA’s Dome Day, with screenings in the IMAX Laser Dome Theater. The GSCA International Conference will feature screenings of new films, films in production, and projects in development; professional development sessions; a technical session highlighting the latest giant screen technology; and numerous opportunities to network within the giant screen industry.

“We are so excited to bring the GSCA Conference back to Chattanooga and Birmingham,” says GSCA Executive Director Tammy Barrett. “Both times Tennessee Aquarium and McWane Science Center have hosted the GSCA Conference in the past—in 2010 and 2018—were wonderfully successful events. Both cities are vibrant, full of culture, and very affordable, all of which are important to GSCA and attendees. We look forward to working with Tennessee Aquarium and McWane Science Center, both longstanding members of GSCA, to showcase new and upcoming films, share developments in giant screen technology, and provide the opportunity for professional development and networking.”

“We are very excited to host the GSCA International Conference once again,” says Gordon Stalans, Vice President-CFO, CIO at the Tennessee Aquarium. “GSCA’s first full conference since 2019 is an extremely important one for our industry. Our team is looking forward to seeing the giant screen community converge in Chattanooga and is committed to doing everything possible to make the conference a success for the Association and all its members. And we are always eager to share some Southern hospitality with our colleagues.”

Registration and film submissions will open in April, and additional details will be announced and posted at www.giantscreencinema.com as they are confirmed.
