December 12, 2022—The Hemisfèric, part of the cultural and scientific complex at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain, recently installed a Christie® CP4450-RGB pure laser cinema projector in its main theatre—the biggest of its kind in Spain, with a concave dome screen covering 900 square meters (9687 square feet) and 24 meters (79 feet) in diameter. Christie’s partner Ingevideo installed the projector.
July 13, 2022—Christie® is pleased to share that its RGB pure laser projectors are lighting up the recently refurbished Infinity Dome theatre at TELUS Spark Science Centre in Calgary, Alberta. The dome stands three stories high and 21 meters (69 feet) across, making it one of the largest dome theatres in western Canada, and one of the brightest in North America with eight Christie Griffyn™ 4K32-RGB pure laser projectors delivering 272,000 lumens. RSA Cosmos–Konica Minolta, global leader in digital planetariums, in partnership with Solotech, global leader in audiovisual and entertainment technology, specified and installed the new digital system.
January 6, 2022—D3D Cinema, in partnership with Christie®, is proud to announce that the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (MOST)
in Syracuse, New York, has selected D3D to provide a generational
transformation of MOST’s Giant Dome theater with the installation of a
stunning second generation (Gen 2) laser-illuminated, ultra
high-resolution Laser CineDome projection system. The theater is
scheduled to reopen in February 2022 after a complete renovation,
including new seating, flooring, lighting and an impressive new NanoSeam dome surface.

July 22, 2021—After a 14-month closure for its largest ever renovation, the Space Theatre of the Hong Kong Space Museum, which has been thrilling audiences since its inception in 1980, reopened on July 1, 2021. The major part of the renovation was the replacement of the 23-metre-diameter dome screen with a new one comprising 428 aluminum panels that are less than 1mm thick. The panels utilize the latest NanoSeam technology and offer a seamless viewing experience. The screen, together with the six new Christie Mirage 304 projectors, produce sharper and more colorful images. Other facilities of the Space Theatre, including the newly installed Sky-Skan DigitalSky–Dark Matter projection system, audio and sound equipment, the control and production studios have all been upgraded with cutting-edge technologies to provide audiences with exhilarating audiovisual experiences.
February 5, 2019—Evans & Sutherland (E&S),
provider of Digistar, the world’s leading digital planetarium system, has
acquired 10 of the new Christie® D4K40-RGB RealLaser™ projectors
for its Dome Demonstration Center and for installation in the U.S. Space &
Rocket Center (USSRC) planetarium in Huntsville, Alabama.
September 11, 2018–The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) is pleased to announce Evans & Sutherland and Christie will demonstrate a technical preview of a new digital dome RGB laser system at GSCA’s Dome Day event on September 24, 2018, at McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
January 24, 2018—D3D Cinema is proud to announce that Omaha’s
Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium has selected D3D to upgrade the
existing IMAX® 15/70 film-based Lozier Theater to a state-of-the-art
Christie Digital 4K 3D projection system, which will be installed in March
2018. Upon reopening, the theater will be called the Lozier Giant Screen
Theater.
June 2, 2017—D3D Cinema, in partnership with Christie®, is proud to announce that the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI), opened their new laser-illuminated, ultra-high resolution dome projection system to visitors on Memorial Day to great acclaim from both audiences and local media outlets.
January 6, 2017—D3D Cinema is pleased to announce that the Fernbank Museum of Natural History (FMNH) has selected D3D to provide FMNH with two new digital cinema systems in early 2017. Located in central Atlanta, Georgia, FMNH is undertaking significant upgrades to their existing Giant Screen theater as well as a second auditorium space. Work will begin this month, with both new theaters launching in early February after undergoing comprehensive technology upgrades to provide significantly enhanced viewer experiences, as well as dramatic improvements to functionality.
November 15, 2016—On Friday, October 7, 2016, the Giant Screen Cinema Association's (GSCA) Technical Committee hosted a digital dome demo in the Shopper's Drug Mart Omnimax Theatre at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Evans & Sutherland installed a True8K system using 10 Christie Mirage 304K projectors that, before this demo, had never been demonstrated in a giant screen dome, anywhere in the world.
