MacGillivray Freeman Films Selects Museum Media to Represent Its GS Digital Titles Across Europe

January 17, 2023—MacGillivray Freeman Films is pleased to announce it has entered into a distribution deal with Museum Media to represent the company’s library of giant screen educational films in museum institutions and commercial venues across Europe. The agreement comes as MFF is looking to expand the market for its educational titles beyond traditional giant screen cinemas. Museum Media is led by Berend Reijnhoudt, who served as president of the giant screen theatre Omniversum in The Hague for two decades.

Stephen Amezdroz's "Koala" to Be First Giant Screen Film Shot With the Blackmagic 12K Camera

December 14, 2020—Stephen Amezdroz's Koala will be the first giant screen film shot with the Blackmagic 12K camera. The film is scheduled to be released in 2022 and will be distributed by MacGillivray Freeman Films. The camera has a digital film resolution of 12,288 x 6480 through a 12K Super 35 Sensor that has 14 stops of dynamic range, and combines 80 megapixels per frame with new colour science. https://bit.ly/34btR0y

Director's Cut of MacGillivray Freeman's "Everest" to Be Released in 2021

June 12, 2020—The director's cut of MacGilivray Freeman's documentary Everest will be released in 2021. The original film is the highest-grossing giant screen documentary of all time, earning more than $152 million in worldwide ticket sales. The director’s cut will feature exclusive new footage and will be digitally remastered in 16k for an 8k digital release. MacGillivray Freeman is using the same film scanner that was custom-made for the filmmakers of Apollo 11 to digitize NASA’s 70mm archival footage from its mission to the moon.
