July 30, 2018—The 280-seat Tech Museum of Innovation IMAX Theater
in downtown San Jose, California, has been closed since the beginning of
July to undergo a $2.7 million, four-month renovation that will replace
its 70mm film projector with a state-of-the-art IMAX 4k laser
projection system. The Tech will be the first IMAX dome in the world to
