November 25, 2014—The winners of the 2014 BLUE Carpet Film Awards were announced November 7 at The Mahaffey Theatre in Downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. Films were selected as part of the BLUE Ocean Film Festival and Conservation Summit (BLUE) as being the top cinematic works for ocean conservation and awareness. Three giant screen documentaries took home prizes at the event.

Winning Documentary Feature Film was Journey to the South Pacific, produced by IMAX Corporation, MacGillivray Freeman Films, One World One Ocean Foundation, and MacGillivray Freeman Films Educational Foundation.

Exploration and Adventure was awarded to Antarctica 3D: Life on the Edge, produced by Ocean 8 Films, DQBD Films, and Giant Screen Films.

Winning the award for Marine Life and receiving Special Jury Recognition for 3D was Great White Shark, produced by Giant Screen Films, Yes/No Productions, and Liquid Pictures.

BLUE is a one-of-a-kind film industry and community event bringing together films, filmmakers, and leaders in ocean research and conservancy. Every two years ocean leaders, filmmakers, photographers, scientists, explorers, entertainment executives—and the general public—gather in Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg, Florida, at BLUE to honor the best in ocean filmmaking, to learn more about the issues facing our oceans, and to collaborate on improving the future of our oceans and humanity.
