Michelle Personette to Step Down as Executive Director of Challenger Learning Center
January 12, 2022—Florida A&M University and Florida State University announced today
that Michelle Personette, the executive director of Tallahassee’s
Challenger Learning Center (CLC), will step down on Feb. 3, 2022.
Personette has led the center, which is the K-12 STEM outreach facility
of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, since 2004. Prior to that, she
served as its communications and development manager, beginning in 2001.

scheduled to reopen in February 2022 after a complete renovation,

December 14, 2021—Science North CEO Guy Labine has announced that he will step down from
leadership of the science centre next March. He will become the President and CEO of the
Arizona Science Center in Phoenix.
December 10, 2021 - MacGillivray Freeman Films has announced that internationally award-winning actor Liam
Neeson will narrate Ireland, the company’s latest large-format
documentary for IMAX® and giant screen theatres. Presented globally by
worldwide sponsor Tourism Ireland, Ireland will open in select giant
screen theatres starting February 11.
December 8, 2021—The Ontario Science Centre proudly celebrates 25 years of delivering
engaging and educational large-format films in the OMNIMAX® Theatre with
the opening of original IMAX® film, Asteroid Hunters on December 15. “We’re delighted to celebrate 25 years of sharing the unique and
immersive cinematic experience of the OMNIMAX® Theatre with visitors to
the Ontario Science Centre,” said Paul Kortenaar, CEO, Ontario Science
Centre. “Our steady lineup of outstanding educational films continues
with this latest space film about the brilliant minds and intriguing
science behind detecting and tracking asteroids. We can’t wait for our
visitors to see it.”
October 27, 2021—The
Birdly experience, the latest in VR technology combined with motion simulation, opened at Telus Spark Science Centre in Calgary
this week, with great coverage on local news. Birdly is a full-body virtual reality bird flight simulator coupling robotics and simulation technology. D3D Cinema is the official distributor for Birdly throughout North America for special attractions and public nonprofit institutions such as museums, zoos, aquariums, science centers, etc., and produces content for the attraction as well. 
October 25, 2021—We are very sad to share that Director/Producer George
Butler died peacefully at his home in True Farm, New Hampshire, on
October 21, 2021. The cause of death at age 78 was pneumonia. George's curiosity for the natural world, for science and adventure,
combined with his steadfast commitment to the giant screen, led him to
create the award-winning giant screen films Roving Mars and Shackleton’s
Antarctic Adventure. Most recently he was producer and director of
Tiger Tiger, an IMAX documentary to be released in 2022 and made with
his friend Frank Marshall, with whom he had previously partnered on
Roving Mars.
