Qualifications to be a GSCA Board Member

Election to the GSCA Board of Directors is a high honor in the giant screen industry, offering the opportunity to shape the future of the field. By joining the Board, you’ll contribute your expertise to guide GSCA’s continued success.

Qualifications

Candidates must be current GSCA members in good standing, meeting the following criteria:

  • Leadership: Proven leadership within GSCA and the broader industry, with active involvement and commitment to the association’s mission.
  • Commitment: A history of engagement with GSCA through committee work or volunteering, showing dedication to the association.
  • Supportive Employment: Work for an organization that supports Board responsibilities, including time commitment and travel for the annual conference, film expo, and 4-6 conference calls per year.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and analytically, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Respect and Integrity: Respected by industry peers, with a reputation for emotional maturity, integrity, and collaborative work.
  • Governance Understanding: Clear understanding of fiduciary duties and the difference between oversight and supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Promote GSCA’s vision, mission, and strategic plan.
  • Ensure sound financial management and exercise fiduciary responsibility.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest in discussions and votes.
  • Represent GSCA positively and actively participate in strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Attend all Board meetings and the annual conference and support the work of directors and committee chairs.
  • Adhere to the GSCA Code of Conduct Declaration.

Time Commitment

  • Directors serve two-year terms.
  • Board participation includes preparing for, traveling to, and attending meetings. The Board meets in person twice a year, with 3-4 additional conference calls.
  • Directors are expected to serve on at least one committee.
  • Frequent communication with GSCA members and staff is required.
  • Board members are not reimbursed for travel or event registration.
