September 18, 2104—D3D Cinema is pleased to announce the conversion of Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts’ giant screen theater. Located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the new theater will be rebranded as the Select Medical Digital Cinema in Fall 2014.

D3D will begin a multiphase upgrade in October, replacing the 15/70 3D projection system with dual 4K digital projectors, MasterImage 3D, a QSC 5.1 audio system and a new screen from Severtson. The system is designed to provide a seamless pathway to Phase 2 of the theater’s upgrade plan, which will include a 4K dual-head 6P 3D laser system from Christie.

“Whitaker Center is looking forward to the many advantages of digital exhibition, including  bringing exciting new cinematic and alternative content to our audiences, significantly reducing our operating costs, and continuing our commitment to providing the best giant screen moviegoing experience to the residents of Central Pennsylvania,” said Steve Bishop, Whitaker Center’s Vice President for Science and Cinema Programs.

“We’re proud to add the Whitaker Center to the growing list of prestigious institutions who have turned to D3D to provide them with next generation theater technology,” said Derek Threinen, Vice President of Distribution and Business Development for D3D. “Whitaker Center’s strategic, staged upgrade will ensure they can immediately take advantage of the vastly improved quality, economics and versatility of digital exhibition, while ensuring a fiscally responsible means to the integration of groundbreaking laser projection technology. More importantly for their visitors, the new digital theater features the most stunning and lifelike cinematic experience ever, immersing them in new ideas, places, and cultures like never before.”
