Statement of Purpose

I have been a member of GSCA since 1994 and been a board member many times over that period. I wish to be re-elected to the board in order to continue to be a part of all conversations that are meaningful to our business: film production, budgets, 2D to 3D conversion, movie making technologies, the relationship between filmmakers and distributors and distributors and theatres.

I have worked on all these topics in the presentations I have given in recent years.

Deal or No Deal: Fall 2024

It’s complicated out there and from inside the board, I want to help new and current filmmakers navigate these new waters as best they can; adding to the discussions from the perspective of a technically savvy producer. Understanding ALL the issues around current image capture and projection is a vital tool set for all board members to have, as we move forward and make decisions that will effect the future of our industry.

I think it is important that the technical, creative and business aspects of making Giant Screen films be discussed and illustrated at our conferences.  From within the board it is my intention to continue to influence the content of our conferences, so that these issues are thoroughly explored and illustrated, in an effort to keep our bar of production standards as high as possible.

If any GSCA member wishes to ask me any questions about my Statement of Purpose, please don’t hesitate to email me on philstreather@gmail.com – I want to be YOUR representative on the board.
